Caulk O'Malleys Oil Base Caulk 3-Year Warranty Tucson Citizen January 25, 1985 Pair accused of bilking of banks, merchants in Tucson of at least $50,000 held in Bisbee A man and his wife accused of bilking Tucson banks and stores out of several thousands of dollars are being held in Bisbee. The couple, identified by police as Anthony Dennis DiGregorio and his wife, Kathryn Louise DiGregorio, were being held yesterday in the Cochise County Jail. They are to be transferred later to the Pima County Jail. Anthony DiGregorio was ordered held in lieu of $20,000 bond in the case. His wife was ordered held in lieu of $40,000, officials said.

They were indicted Tuesday by a Pima County grand jury and were arrested Wednesday night after a six-year investigation into suspicion they bilked local banks and merchants of at least $50,000, officials said. The Tucson Police Department, in a statement issued on the case, said the DiGregorios, both 32, were arrested in Benson, where they have lived for the past four to six weeks, by Cochise County sheriff's deputies. The crimes of which the pair is accused, the official said, took place between 1981 and last year. Law enforcement officials said the pair are suspected of using their real names and aliases to open accounts in numerous Tucson area banks a and then write checks on the accounts that were not backed by sufficient funds.

They also are suspected of getting credit cards through the use of false names and credit information at stores around the city and running up bills that never were paid, the officials said. The police statement issued on the case yesterday listed two aliases for Anthony DiGregorio and four for his wife. "No matter how much research is done, given the nature of this beast, there will never be a definitive answer," Willett said.

"It's not a clear issue," agreed House Minority Leader Art Hamilton, D-Phoenix. Gutierrez said he first went to work for the corporation as a consultant "shortly after the election" in November and became a regular employee Jan. 1. He consulted Willett about the job in December and got a tentative OK but went on leave Jan. 14, when Willett told him the situation appeared murkier.

The senator said he had lived on his legislative salary since being elected six years ago but had decided to seek a career after marrying a woman with two children in the off-session last year. Gutierrez said he sought the marketing job because "there aren't a lot of jobs that are juvenile-court related." The court work was not "just -work" because it involved. "a lot of public relations, a lot of community support," the 35-year-old lawmaker said. His work for the medical corporation included helping arrange meetings with newspaper editorial boards, working on who to hire as a public relations firm and arranging an open house for the radiology Gutierrez said. Pacheco said he worked as a consultant to Western Health Management Corp.

from August until December, while it was under contract to the medical corporation. He said he underwent about two weeks of training with the medical corporation's credit department in January before the Legislative session started. Pacheco, who chairs the House Democratic Caucus, had been a full-time lawmaker for about two years. Before that, he worked as an administrative assistant to Anamax Mining but was laid off along with hundreds of others as copper prices slumped. "When I first was employed up there, I had the impression that it was a private corporation and it might still be a private corporation, but it might be too close to call," he said.
