Jackie and Ralph were married in August 1961. Her family moved from Cleveland to Tucson in 1972 when Ralph accepted a professorship at the University of Arizona, and Jackie became deeply committed to community service, serving on the boards of trustees of the Tucson Art Center (as it was known then; predecessor to the Tucson Art Museum), chairing its Christmas Bazaar and Balle' des Arts, and was a driving force in the founding of the Tucson Museum of Art School.

Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel. To express condolences visit the guestbook at www.Legacy.comTucs011A1bituarieSriisp REYNOLDS, Sofia "Pia" Lee 82, Samuel "Sam" K. Adkins was born in Wayne, West Virginia (W.Va.) on the 7th of August 1935. With a peaceful smile, he walked through the gates of Heaven on Monday, the 22nd of January 2018. Sam was a devout Christian and his life was blessed with an abundance of love, happiness and success.

He married the woman of his dreams, Jeri Childers, from a blind date at the tender age of 19 and remained a loving and devoted husband for 63 years. He was the father of four children, a grandfather to seven children and the great-grandfather of four children. Sam was the son of Everett and Jess Adkins. He spent his formative years in Bellfontaine, Ohio. He graduated from Ironton High School, Ironton Ohio, and served in the United States Army for two years.

Sam and his Army buddies had a bet to see who could leave with the lowest rank, he lost. He attended Ohio University and graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, W. VA. Sam's career spanned some 43 years primarily in newspaper advertising. He took great pride in the fact that his work in advertising provided the financial backbone to our cherished democracy and thereby advanced freedom of the press for all who reside in this great country.

He started with classified sales at the Herald Dispatch in Huntington W. VA. He moved the family to Ocala, Florida where he worked a couple of years for the Star Banner. Then on to Orlando, Florida for some 22 years as the retail advertising manager of the Orlando Sentinel and another five years as the publisher of the Orlando Business Journal. His last move was to Tucson where he completed his career as the retail advertising manager for the Arizona Daily StarTucson Citizen.

Sam spent 28 years in Tucson and apparently lost his flair for southern cuisine. Just last Sunday, his son fixed a fine "mess" of collard greens that, upon tasting, brought out facial contortions reminiscent of Sam's formative years. He was an avid sports fan and a staunch supporter of Tucson's own Arizona Wildcats. After tense Wildcat games, loved ones would always call to confirm his blood pressure was back to normal. Sam was also an accomplished artist and several of his paintings decorate the walls of his children and loved ones.

He practiced many hours on both the piano and guitar, thus confirming the patient love of his wife Jeri. Sam's intellect stayed with him throughout his life and was only exceeded by his playful sense of humor. His laugh, like his life, was rich ancT full. Truly it is the memory of that laugh, his smile and humor that will be paramount to overcoming the overwhelming loss that we, his family and friends, all now feel. He will be missed by many and remembered lovingly by all who knew him.

Sam would tell us all today, "don't cry because I'm gone, have a celebration, do your best, love often and keep smiling. Love you forever!" In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 East Fort Lowell Road, Tucson, AZ 85719. Mother: Jess Adkins Father: Everett Adkins Sisters: Sharon, Gae Wife: Jeri Children: Mark, Jeff, Chris and Beth Grandchildren: Aleah, Steve, Teddy, Aleah, Danny, Levi and Amanda Great-Grandchildren: Lily, Natalie, Isabella, Sadie. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel. To express condolences visit the guestbook at www.Legacy.comTucsonobituarieSriisp PARNELL, Thomas T.

She graduated from Corvallis High School in Studio City. Nancy loved to spin tails about growing up in Hollywood and the famous stars she met. She married Wayne Welmon in 1954 and settled in the San Gabriel Valley to raise their three, children, Deborah, Denise and William.

Nancy had a big personality and loved to laugh and make friends but her greatest joy in life came from being a Mom and later a Grandmother. After raising her children she moved to Tucson, AZ and had a successful career in Title Insurance. Nancy loved travel and had many adventures including trips to Australia, The Amazon river, Machu Picchu and Alaska. She will be missed by her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Parnell, better known as Spike, was a native Tucsonan when they were a very rare breed. He was the first son of Robert and Julia Parnell and was born at the Stork's Nest in 1932. A grandfather immediately gave him the nickname Spike.

He grew up on 10 acres on the southeast corner of Fifth and Craycroft, which was all dirt roads and far out of town. It was a challenge for the kids to get to Sam Hughes, Mansfeld, and Tucson High. Spike was in the Tucson High Class of 1950 and the U. of A. Class of 1954.

Then he fought the Korean War on the island of Eniwetok in the Marshall Islands and became Tom instead of Spike. After marrying Florence Archer in Hawaii and returning to the U. of A. to become a mechanical engineer, Tom spent 35 years in California working for FMC Corporation in the defense industry and living in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Los Gatos. When he retired and returned to Tucson in 1992, he became Spike again! His wonderful life had low points when he lost his son, Mark, in 1991 and his wife, Florence in 1998.

Spike enjoyed his retirement years in a desert home in northeast Tucson, seeing all his family and friends again. After he married Suzanne Bernard, a Tucson High classmate, in 2001, he "began to travel abroad again and even liked RV travel in the west and in Mexico. She was born on March 30, 1923 just outside Somerset, KY. After recovering from TB as a young woman, Zella moved to Tucson with her husband, Jessie in 1943. The Tucson desert was a stark contrast to the Bluegrass State, but Zella learned to love the beautiful mountains and the lush desert of the southwest.

The most important part of her life was her family. She enjoyed taking care of them and their home. Zella overcame several serious illnesses in her life so a healthy diet, exercising and walking became an important part of her daily routine for many years and continued into her 80's and early 90's. Her neighbors were important to her, especially the Begley family, as she lived in the same neighborhood for 68 years. Zella studied to become a Cosmetologist in 1960 and developed lasting friendships with many of her clients and colleagues.

Zella and her husband enjoyed traveling to many parts of the United States in their camper. She and her daughter also traveled later in life, including trips to Alaska and Hawaii.
