One was held for Superior Court action. Paul Albert Swaim, of 1474 W. Wetmone appeared before Justice of the Peace Alice N. Truman without counsel and waived a preliminary hearing on a first-degree burglary charge.

It stems from a $1,500 break-in at Goldwyn's Department Store Oct. 30. Carson Jay Lancaster, of 2004 W. Rogers requested a hearing on the same it was set for a week from today. The suspects, both charged in connection with the same incident, will await their next court appearances on $1,000 bond.

Thieves Get $1,800 Loot From Auto Mor.e than $1,800 worth of men's and women's clothing and photographic equipment was stolen from an auto in a parking lot at Ramada Inn, 404 N. Freeway, Sunday night or early yesterday, it was reported to police. Officers said a 3-inch hole was smashed in a rear window at the locking knob. Lester H. Barber, 48, of Middletown, told police he left his locked auto in the lot about 7:30 p.m.

and discovered the theft 12 hours later. Barber said the thieves missed taking a cash box, camera and binoculars on the rear floorboard. Arguments on why the request for a writ of habeas corpus should be granted will be heard by Superior Court Judge Raul Castro at 3:30 p.m.

Thursday. The petition, prepared by Atty. Lawrence 011 a claims that Haftenstein is being held without reasonable or probable cause and without benefit of bond, and that this is in violation of the 14th amendment of the U. S. Constitution.

Haftenstein, 34, a building contractor, is accused of the fatal shooting of his business partner, Allan L. Etter, and the wounding of his former wife, Mrs. Villis Haftenstein, on Nov. 12. He has been held in jail since that time.

The shootings occurred in front of Mrs. Haftenstein's trailer home at 231 W. Wetmore Rd. Haftenstein is scheduled to arraigned in Superior Court next Tuesday on charges of first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon. MaQ Early!
