Quick's December tour lands in Tucson tonight. As Blender magazine recent ly wrote: "See Annie Quick soon, before she becomes a huge star and forgets all of her friends." Israeli music stars to play Their name translates to "the Suburbs," but Yossi Huri and Ori Harpaz may be the big-city hot ticket in Israeli music.

The Parvarlm Huri and Harpaz's folk duo will make beautiful music in Tucson this week. Huri was born in Baghdad, Iraq, and immigrated to Israel at age 11. Harpaz was born on a kibbutz but spent his teens in Brazil, where he mastered guitar playing. After 15-plus albums and 30 years in the biz, the Parvarim has a distinctive repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs in Hebrew, English, Yiddish, Greek, Ladino and Spanish. Check out its truly international sound at 7:30 p.m.

Thurs Annie Quick will perform in Tucson tonight. Nighttife That's where the organizers of Nov. 14 and 15's "The Fifth-Annual Great Cover-Up" benefit concert will present a check for nearly $5,700 to The Brewster Center Domestic Violence Services. The haul spurred by the volunteered talents of more than 20 local bands bests last year's record total of $4,500.
